About the Item

Clean lines and beautiful color, understated simplicity at its best! Renewed, this century old antique chest has been moderately restored, retaining some antique character, delivered deep cleaned, hand waxed and polished, ready for another century of use. This charming antique was born in Scandinavia, likely Sweden, in the early 20th century. Hand-crafted from solid pine wood, with remarkable craftsmanship, featuring four drawers of various size, all with quality dovetail joinery, locking with original key included; the curvacious shaped upper drawer is enhanced by curved and reeded molding at its flanks, along with very subtle carved detailing, adding a refined, elegant touch. The top drawer opens to reveal an interior fitted with divider, the lowest drawer the deepest, providing generous storage space; each drawer fitted with patinated gilt brass hardware. Hand painted, soft sky blue/gray color, typical of Scandinavian taste. Washed out, weathered with beautifully aged patina finish, highlighted by accents of cloud white paint and the sparce dark, deep wine red paint.
