About the Item
Beautiful and rare twelve drawer Landstrom dresser. Chinoiserie styling, gorgeous copper hardware with great patina. The bleached mahogany case has been freshly lacquered in a slightly off-white lacquer. This piece offers an extraordinary amount of functional storage.
Made by the Landstrom Furniture Co. which was based in Rockford, Illinois. The company was founded in 1879 by Swedish immigrant John Landstrom and his business partner, John Damm. They were known for producing high-quality furniture in a variety of styles. They selected Rockford for manufacturing due to the abundance of materials in Rockford's lush forests and a Swedish workforce with furniture building skills.
Landstrom Furniture Co. gained national recognition in the early 20th century. It produced furniture until the 1950's. Today, vintage pieces of Landstrom Furniture Co. are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.
