Rare Antique Chippendale Cherry Chest on Chest Attr. Nathan Booth c. 1760

About the Item

This Rare Antique Chippendale Cherry Chest on Chest, attributed to the renowned Connecticut cabinetmaker Nathan Booth, dates back to around 1760. This exceptional piece showcases the elegance and craftsmanship of the Chippendale style, with fine detailing and solid cherry wood construction that exudes both quality and sophistication. The chest is composed of two stacked sections, each adorned with well-proportioned drawers fitted with brass hardware that complements the deep, warm tones of the wood. The upper section features a beautifully shaped bonnet top with turned finials, a hallmark of the high style found in 18th-century American furniture. Below the bonnet top, the chest displays a highly functional arrangement of multiple drawers, offering ample storage space while maintaining a refined and balanced appearance. The cabriole legs with carved claw and ball feet add an extra layer of detail and elegance, highlighting the fine craftsmanship that Nathan Booth was known for. In excellent condition for its age, this chest retains its original hardware and finish, though some light wear consistent with age can be seen. The cherry wood remains vibrant, with the rich patina that has developed over centuries. This chest represents a piece of early American craftsmanship that will be an heirloom for generations to come, offering both practical storage and a striking statement in any room. 88h x 42w x 20d
