Regence Period Walnut Bombé Commode, Early 18th Century

About the Item

This exceptional walnut bombé commode from the Regence period. It has four beautifully shaped drawers with original rocaille decorated ormolu mounts. The top two drawers have a rare internal locking mechanism with integrated keys and pulls. When the pulls are turned the drawers lock. The scrolled apron has a center cartouche of a triple fleur-de-lis. The curving sides are decorated with carved shells and a scrolled apron. The piece stands on four beautifully carved cabriole legs. The triple fleur-de-lis signifies the arms of “France Moderne” Azure or the French monarchy prior to the French Revolution. N.P. Trent has been a respected name in antiques for over 30 years with a large collection of period furniture, art and decorative accessories.
