About the Item
This Rare Early Prohibition Art Deco RadioBar, crafted in the early 1930s, was specifically built during Prohibition to discreetly store and hide alcohol. Its clever design combines the elegance of the Art Deco style with the practicality of a secret bar. The cabinet opens to reveal a fully functional bar area, complete with mirrored surfaces and glass storage for bottles and glasses. It comes with a complete set of the original glassware and decanters, making it not only a stylish bar but also a complete, vintage entertaining set.
A noteworthy feature of this RadioBar is its original tuner from Hazeltine and Latour Corp, marking this as an exceptionally early model. The RadioBar company began using Philco tuners exclusively around 1935, making this piece a rare and unique example from the earlier days of production. The radio retains its original finish, showing beautiful patina and some sun damage, which adds to its vintage charm. While the radio is in working condition, the needle that indicates the frequency no longer rotates, though the piece still serves as a fascinating display of early radio technology.
In overall good condition, this RadioBar stands as both a functional bar and a significant piece of Prohibition-era history. It offers a blend of Art Deco design, vintage radio craftsmanship, and historical intrigue, making it an exceptional collectible for any enthusiast or interior designer looking to add a statement piece to their collection. 45h x 28w x 15d closed 58h x 51w x 15d open counter height 31
