Rare Italian Geometric Dry Totem Bar by Giovanni Offredi for Saporiti, c. 1990's

About the Item

Rare Italian Geometric Dry Totem Bar by Giovanni Offredi for Saporiti, Italy, c. 1990's About: Introducing a true Italian Modern masterpiece: a rare totem dry bar, designed by the incomparable Giovanni Offredi for the renowned furniture maker Saporiti. Featuring an ingenious and discrete revolving door made of birdseye maple with intricate inlays bordering abstract geometric shapes in varying tones and colors this dry bar is truly a work of functional art. Inside, this dry bar contains two circular glass shelves and a lazy Susan on the bottom that spins 360 degrees for convenient storage. The outer shell of the bar is upholstered in a rich, thick cut genuine leather hide complete with French seams adding to the allure and elegance of this fascinating piece. Topped with a turntable that can display alcohol bottles and glasses this one-of-a-kind bar is truly a marvel. Born in Milan in 1927, Offredi enjoyed a successful collaboration with Saporiti throughout the 1970's and 1980's. Among Offredi’s most notable pieces are the gently curving Wave chair, sofa and lounge chair, the 'Onda' coffee table and the 'Paracarro' dining table. Though he passed away in 2007 Offredi was awarded a prestigious Good Design Award from the Chicago Design Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, in 2008. Established initially as Fratelli Saporiti in 1950, mid-century Italian furniture maker Saporiti Italia has a reputation for avant-garde and enduring designs, and its tables, chairs and cabinets inspire all who have had the pleasure of contemplating them. This is perhaps best encapsulated in the production of this audacious dry bar. This totem bar is a piece of both Italian and Modern Design history, adding a touch of twentieth century elegance to any space. Add this extraordinary piece to your collection today and elevate your home's aesthetic to new heights. ---Dimensions--- Width: 24 in / 60.96 cm Depth: 22 in / 55.88 cm Height: 53.5 in / 135.89 cm Condition Details: This ultra rare totem bar designed by Giovanni Offredi is in 100% original, vintage condition and has aged to perfection. The revolving door, constructed from birdseye maple, rotates 360 degrees smoothly and without any issues and shows only minor surface scratches and one minor chip in the clearcoat (which can be seen in the detail photos provided). The two fixed shelves within the bar (spaced 11.25" in between shelves) rotate with the revolving door and the bottom lazy Susan spins 360 degrees independently from the top two shelves and door for easy access to items within. The genuine leather covering is in excellent vintage condition showing only a few minor surface scratches (which can be seen in the detail photos provided) but showing no stains, fraying or tears whatsoever. The bar is built atop castors for easy movement from one room to another and all wheels roll smoothly. The top accent drink surface turn table rotates 45 degrees on a clever and heavy-duty ball bearing. This extraordinary dry bar is highly functional, structurally sound and ready for a literal lifetime more of use. Please view all photos for details on this totem bar's current condition.
