18th C. Venetian Tall Secretary Cabinet with Beautiful Hand-Painted Finish

About the Item

An Italian Venetian tall secretary cabinet from the 18th century. This antique 7.75 feet tall (approximate) cabinet from Venice, Italy boasts a beautifully hand-painted and embellished exterior in a floral, leaf, and scrolling cartouche motif. The upper case, which is more shallow than the case below) is crowned with a softly arched and molded cornice, and houses a pair of arched two-panel doors that open to reveal wood shelving within. The secretarial mid section (which makes up the top section of the lower case) is found behind the slant-front door, which lays down to create a writing table, and reveals a series of document cubbies, and pair of drawers for storage within. The dresser portion at bottom houses a two full-sized, stacked drawers. The chest is raised nicely upon cabriole style carved feet. The color palette is primarily yellow, with green and red, and there is a bronze/brown accent trim. It has an attractive aged look. This tall cabinet breaks down into two pieces, making for easier transport and installation. This 18th century Venetian tall bookcase and secretary, will be an eye-catching room-maker; perfect for an entry foyer, living-room, or bedroom.
