18th century Norwegian carved oak bureau bookcase
About the Item
Stunning and rare Norwegian baroque oak bureau bookcase circa 1760.
Comprising of 3 sections due to the monumental proportions.
Top section with shaped cornice, below which the carved double doors open to 5 shelves and 4 fitted drawers. Fall front with matching carvings opens to reveal a fully fitted interior. Shaped interior with central tabernacle containing 8 fitted drawers flanked either side by 6 shaped drawers.
Bottom section with a concealed shallow drawer and partitions, followed by 3 deep drawers with original handles. Standing on bracket feet.
Missing lock to top drawer. Expected minor marks to woodwork, fading to sides. Restoration to back boards.
