Antique 19th century secretary simulated chiffonier, Napoleon III period
A magnificent secretary simulated chiffonier. It is created with great craftsmanship in a beautiful curved shape. The front and the sides are all inlaid. The floral marquetry in different wood species creates a dramatic contrast with the blackened pear tree veneer. The flap above four paneled drawers reveals an opening with four drawers and a writing surface lined with royal blue felt. Bronze mounts embellish this secretary. This stunning furniture is a masterpiece of 19th century French cabinetmaking. It is incredibly rare and highly sought after.
Condition: In good antique condition. Marquetry and veneer is good. Three bronze escutcheon
are missing. Two small pieces of the upper bronze binding are missing.
Three drawers are not locking. One drawer does not open.
