Danish Late Empire Mahogany With Inlay Bureau / Secretair

About the Item

Rare Danish early 19th century secretary or slant front bureau. Exquisitely crafted from mahogany with fabulous marquetry decoration in black nobel wood, satinwood and walnut. A true example of beautiful, rare and refined design and excellent craftsmanship. In two parts: Upper section with pair of convex doors and a small pull-out writing or reading surface and myriad marquetry drawers. Lower section with a slant front that opens to a fitted interior with myriad drawers and secret compartments. Top drawer fitted with an inset retractable writing or reading surface. This secretary is a decorative and stunning piece that serves for both a standing- and sitting writing secretary. Copenhagen, Denmark 1810
