Early 20th Century Art Deco Otto Schulz Boet Secretary

About the Item

Otto Schulz Art Deco secretary for Boet, Gothenburg. The secretary is a modern classic from the 1930s and plays well into the classical elements of the Art Deco era. The sharp geometric lines and contrasting colours, the warmer wood and distinct black, creates a dynamic foil while staying true to the idea of elegant luxury and quality that Otto Schulz is known for. The secretary would be a statement piece in any room. It combines distinct elements with sharp attention to details and hints of glamour making the piece unmistakably retro without being dated. The secretary is in good vintage condition consistent with age and only has smaller marks of use. Height to writing desk is 74 cm and the depth is 45 and 22 cm respectively. Based in Gothenburg from the early 20th century, OTTO SCHULZ was a renowned furniture and interior designer as well as a publisher and owner of the successful designer firm Boet, which he founded in 1920. In addition to his success as a furniture designer he also published the design periodical Boet which would become a prominent influence in the world of design, not only in Sweden.
