Louis Seize Bureau, France, Late 18th Century
About the Item
Louis Seize secretaire with mahogany veneer and brass moldings and fittings. The secretaire stands on square tapered legs with brass sabots and has three wide drawers, the top one protruding risalite-like in the center. The interior layout consists of letter trays and drawers and the writing surface is covered with a green leather. There are secret compartments behind the middle compartments. The table top can be pulled out for comfortable sitting and working, giving the secretaire a maximum depth of 93 cm. It has been professionally refurbished and hand polished.
