Original 18th Century Venetian Secretary Desk Bookcase burled walnut with inlaid

About the Item

What makes this piece unique and special is its originali twist to the characteristic Secretaire, a must-have object among Venetian aristocratic families that could not be missing in their residences. The secretaire has two bodies, entirely in walnut wood veneered with thick walnut root, inlaid with blond walnut squares. The construction of this Majestic piece of furniture had to be functional to the lagunar habitat/environment of Venice, and due to its solid build It was able to maintain such excellent conditions to thus day. The internal lining is in velvet, also still in good conditions. The lower body is made up of three chests of drawers with an upper flap which contains four drawers with two open compartments; a sliding surface hides the secret compartments underneath. All movement and closing accessories are functioning and original, no replacements were needed, thus proving the good quality build and durability of the furniture.
