New finds from a residence in Ibaraki pref., Japan.
This vintage, open back rectangular shelving unit was manufactured in circa 1950s to 70s, estimate from the style & material.
Made of solid red meranti wood (also called Red lauan / Philippine mahogany), it's durable & stable enough to store heavy objects.
This piece is one of the "Ashed" line furnitures of my shop items - washed off the remained old vanish by the lye made from the hardwood ashes, then re-finished with homemade, water-based sheer matte polish mist made of beeswax & linseed oil. Not shiny, but touches are smooth.
