Iconic 'Farrow & Jackson' 49 Bottle Wine Rack in Metal and Wood
About the Item
Farrow & Jackson Wine Rack in Metal and Wood, England, early 20th century.
This is a rare and large Farrow & Jackson of London wine rack in metal and wood. Farrow & Jackson have supplied to a number or royal households including Buckingham Palace, St James's Palace, Marlborough House, Sandringham House, York House and Clarence House and are the number one supplier of wine racks and wine cellar equipment.
The wine rack is a simple but elegant construction of metal and wood. The wear and patina make this a stunning original piece of industrial furniture. It is very usable at the same time, with the possibility of storing up to 49 bottles of wine.
Journalist and Guardian wine writer John Arlott promoted Farrow & Jackson in his columns, and referred in the present tense to their production of custom wine bins: “The best known racks in this country are those produced by Farrow & Jackson in square, single-bottle openings of metal secured by wooden corner pieces. They are strong and secure and can be slanted or staggered to fit under the stairs or in any asymmetrical recess in the house.”
In original condition with wear and marks on the metal and wood. Structurally sound.
