About the Item
Gorgeous vintage mid-century modern to modern chrome and glass etagere with optional full-length mirror for the back in the style of DIA or Design Institute of America. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. There is a scratch on the upper left-hand side and the mirror has a bit of discoloration on the outer edge. It’s not visible unless the mirror is removed. 1 shelf has several surface scratches and there is a crack in 1 shelf corner. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, mid to late 20th century.
What do we have here?? A bookcase? A display shelf? An etagere? YES! And it is AWESOME!! This is a stunning mid-century modern to modern vintage chrome etagere in the style of DIA or Design Institute of America comprised of a lustrous chrome frame with seven shelves in total including a full-length top glass shelf, two lower full length glass shelves and a split in the body that creates two large squares and three small squares. The shelf placement is an impressive abstract effect that allows the ability to use a tall or larger piece of pottery or décor in those taller square spaces. And if that wasn’t fabulous enough… it has a full-length mirror for the backside which will reflect light and the lovely items you place on the shelves. It can be used with or without the mirror. This will look amazing mixed with your mid-century modern or modern décor or be just as charming placed in a traditional or contemporary setting. Without the mirror on the back, it would be a marvelous room divider. As an etagere, bookcase, or display shelf it will beautifully hold your precious framed portraits, sculptures, or your collection of books. Perfect in your living room, bedroom, or home office but it would be equally as wonderful in an entry or hallway, dining room, or sitting room filled with your favorite object’s d’art.
