18th Century English George III Mahogany Sideboard

About the Item

This is a late 18th century English George III hand made Mahogany side board. The handsome cabinet rests on top of six fluted legs with spade feet. The flamed mahogany panels on both the right and left side have been highly polished with lacquer. The left side door is fitted with medallions and ebonized banded inlay as well as the uniformed fluting that spans the entire upper front of the cabinet. The left side single door is fitted with a working lock and key. The right side features on single deep drawer to accommodate wine bottle storage. The Center drawer is shallow but wide to accommodate silverware. It is adorned with a single cabochon style medallion in centre of the drawer front. The highly polished top is also decorated with a single string band of ebony inlay. This is a nice symmetrical sideboard with straight lines. It shows very well and is a nice break from the traditional curved features you see in sideboards from this period.
