20th Century Scandinavian Rosewood Sideboard By Troeds Of Bjarnum, Sweden c.1960

About the Item

A rare vintage Swedish rosewood sideboard designed by the talented Nils Jonsson for Troeds in the 1960s. The 'Trento' model boasts a stunning rich exterior made from solid and veneer rosewood and features clean architectural lines, recessed handles and tapered round legs. The interior is finished in blonde birch and offers ample storage space with two sliding doors and four drawers, the upper drawer lined in royal blue baize. This sideboard is in excellent original condition with only minor signs of wear, showcasing the superior quality of design and manufacture by Troeds of Bjarnum. With its elegant design and rich history, this sideboard is a statement piece that will bring style and sophistication to any space. Its Mid-Century style would be a fantastic addition to a modern or retro-inspired living room, but it would also be equally at home in a spacious dining room or a chic home office. Its versatility and timeless design make it a piece that will never go out of style, bringing joy and elegance to its next proud owner. Troeds was founded in Sweden in 1934 by Svea and Hugo Troedsson . Their mid-century furniture was very popular in Great Britain in the 1960s particularly their teak dining room furniture. Troeds at the time used the talented Swedish designer Nils Jonsson whose name is often stamped on their pieces along with the model name and Troeds. In London you could only buy their furniture at Harrods or Liberty and Co. In other parts of the country their furniture was only available at small up-market retailers (Rackhams and Lee Longlands in Birmingham or Chapmans in Newcastle). Although most of their pieces were realised in teak, other veneers such as rosewood, walnut and oak were used. Rosewood, when available, was the most expensive and added 30% to 40% to the price which at the time made a vast difference and hence rarely seen today.
