This is an antique secretaire sideboard. An English, mahogany drop-front correspondence cabinet, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900. Of excellent proportion and graced with Art Nouveau taste Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout Select stocks show fine grain interest and deep caramel hues Quality bevelled mirror plates with a desirable light foxing and bright appearance Breakfront pediment accentuated with dentil moulding over a pair of narrow alcove corner shelves Upper cabinet hosts a pair of generously sized shelves behind the large mirrored doors Wide sideboard surface with a tiered edge moulding sits above the cabinet base Dressed throughout with working locks — key present Superb secretaire front with carved frieze framing the pair of brass drop handles over shaped backplates Accessed by push button to each side, the writing surface sits ahead of a suite of storage compartments Inset green leather skiver with gold tooling in original order Field panel lower doors catch the eye with striking Art Nouveau relief carvings The sideboard raised upon a plinth foot, with bracket feet to the front and rear This is a superb antique secretaire sideboard, with an attractive finish and suite of useful storage and features. Ideal for penning an occasional correspondence note, whilst offering a generous range of storage throughout. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
