Ferdinando Meccani 'Erasmo' Sideboard in Walnut

About the Item

Ferdinando Meccani for Meccani Design, 'Erasmo' sideboard, walnut, glass, Italy, 1972 This exquisite Erasmo credenza, created by the multidisciplinary artist Ferdinando Meccani (1937-2018), exemplifies the aesthetic sensibilities that prevailed during the 1960s and 1970s. The front facade features a captivating interplay of geometric shapes arranged in a symmetrical configuration, imbuing the piece with a dynamic and visually compelling quality. The door panels feature square cutouts, adding a wonderful rhythmic and haptic surface to the front. The glass is attached in between and enhances the dimensionality of the unit in a fine manner. The interior is comprised of shelves for conveniently storing one’s belongings. The walnut used in this construction embraces a pronounced texture, highlighting the expressive grains and varied tones that lend it a natural and organic allure. This sideboard serves as a testament to the artistry and impeccable craftsmanship of the designer.
