Horst Brüning for Behr Minimalist Sideboard with White and Grey Layout

About the Item

Horst Brüning for Behr Germany, sideboard, model 1730, laminated wood, aluminum, Germany, 1960 Pure and minimalist in its execution, this sideboard model 1730 is designed by Horst Brüning. The rectangular-shaped corpus features a white frame with grey-colored doorpanels that move sideways in an easy gesture. The interior features a practical storage system, including four drawers and shelves. The aluminum base is defined by a clean geometry of linear lines and open forms. This stylistic element offsets the heaviness of the body, creating a visually compelling juxtaposition of openness versus closure, as well as the interplay between substantiality and airiness. Horst Brüning is a designer whose keys ideas are minimalism, functionality, durability and the spirit of the time. On the other hand, however, Brüning 's furniture is timeless. Brüning studied Architecture and Interior Design at the College of Graphic Arts in Hamburg until 1956. In 1963 he set up an architecture and design office in Stuttgart. During this period, Brüning encountered Kill International, Kill International is an established and famous manufacturer, who have also produced many designs by Preben Fabricius and Jörgen Kastholm. Brüning has also worked together with this architect duo.
