Hundstrup Møbelfabrik Danish Oak Sideboard in the Manner of Henning Kjærnulf

About the Item

The daring spirit and of Scandinavian Brutalism meets the rustic classicism of country furniture in this lovely sideboard, produced by Hundstrup Mobelfabrik in the manner of legendary architect Henning Kjærnulf. In this piece, traditional panel-molded cabinet doors and a swooping scalloped apron harmonize to provide a subtle yet important visual backdrop for the showstopping the tiger-like figuring of the luxurious quarter-sawn white oak - a signature of Kjærnulf's style. Key included. Henning Kjærnulf is among the exalted few designers to possess a voice so singular and a body of work so prolific as to be credited with the invention of an entire design style. Kjærnulf's iconic "Danish Brutalist" furniture playfully combines elements from earlier design movements - including the Arts & Crafts, Rococo, and Jacobean styles - with Modern sculpted details and a Scandinavian palette of natural blonde woods to create a look that is both entirely unique and instantly recognizable.
