Rare Vintage Showcase from a House used for Furhery

About the Item

Splendid display cabinet in precious wood and glass from the Nazi period, taken over from a house in Milan formerly occupied by the Furher. History tells us that when Nazism reached Italy, the Furher's Nazi groups occupied houses, with or without the consent of the owners, where they held their meetings and discussed secret affairs. This piece of furniture was recovered by the owner of one of those houses, who found himself this wonderful Nazi relic. The cabinet is made entirely of precious wood with a glass display case. There are four very sinuous S-shaped wooden support legs. These legs support a rectangular wooden frame, which in front shows four doors, joined in pairs, so that when they open you can easily access all the compartments inside. Internally there are two shelves that cover the entire length of the product. The shelves show wonderful workmanship on the edge, beautifully crafted, in fact we see indentations and spikes, making the whole thing very elegant and sinuous. The interior panelling is made of a very beautiful and elegant dark blue and fuchsia floral wallpaper, also with grisaille work. There are also two wooden elements that divide the shelves into three different spaces, but still leave them open. The glass in front is very beautiful and resistant, there are wooden decorations that make the glass even more marvellous: these are very sinuous and create a sort of pointed rhombus, with sinuous curves on the lines. Going up we find a frieze frame made of grissinato wood, with an invisible concealed drawer, very useful at the time to hide secret documents. Above this lies the smooth, polished top. Above this we see two small rectangular frames of the same wood, with frosted glass on the front. Both open and serve as containers. Between these two small structures show dark spheres on the inner side from which a very elegant worked shelf, like the inner ones, emerges. The sideboard is very beautiful and steeped in history.

  • B.B.P (Banfi Belgioioso Peressutti) Italian Wood and Crystal Console, 1941
    By Maria Luisa Belgiojoso
    Located in Milano, IT
Wonderful and very rare sideboard designed by the great designers Banfi, Belgioiso, Peressutti in 1941. Published a very similar example. The sideboard is inhumanly beautiful, with a base that represents its strong point. The base is made of black painted metal, very elegant and suited to the industrial style that this sideboard follows. The base covers the entire depth of the piece and is made within a rectangular frame that is quite hard and rigid in shape. Within this frame we see three large cube-shaped blocks within which the metal planks have been placed, some diagonally, some straight, some higher. They create a simply enchanting, eye-catching effect. This geometric play is the focal point of this wonderful sideboard. This structure is supported by four rigid, geometric square feet. Above we see the central body of the sideboard made entirely of a dark precious solid wood; there are 3 drawers running the full length of the sideboard, each with two spherical brass inlays allowing them to open. Above this is a smaller top, highlighted by a structure to raise it up, as long as the entire sideboard, made of a beautiful ground crystal that gives it an out-of-the-ordinary beauty. The sideboard is suitable for industrial chic, modern and vintage areas. It is a product that can be very adaptable to the type of environment already present. A similar example of this sideboard is published among the vintage design books.
