Sculpted Mahogany Art Deco Credenza by Gaston Poisson, France, 1930s

About the Item

Beautifully sculpted art deco credenza by Gaston Poisson in solid mahogany wood. The design is characterized by 2 round columns on each side that provides for a floating effect of the upper body. Interestingly offset against the bulky body, the entire credenza certainly has some brutalist stance. The actual credenza consists of 3 patterned doors with lock function, with central ornaments in metal and outside hinges in metal. The 3 compartments give access to an open space with one central sliding drawer. The top is finished in a clear coat.
