19th Century Country French Walnut Vitrine

About the Item

19th century Country French Walnut Vitrine will make a stunning display case for your most prized possessions! Crafted in the inimitable French manner, it features a chapeau de gendarme crown over a bonnet lavished with a full relief basket of flowers flanked by grape clusters and flowing branches. Complementary carvings appear at the top of the rounded cornerposts, as well. All three sides are glazed with arched openings and subtle foliate embellishments, with a single door hung with a full length barrel hinge complemented by a fancy steel key guard. The door opens to provide easy access to the four surfaces within, ideal for displaying a wide variety of collectibles or family heirlooms. The boldly scrolled apron features a Romanesque urn with foliates, and is flanked by scrolled legs carved with upturned acanthus plumes and escargot feet with cloven hooves. circa 1890s
