19th Century French Wooden Vitrine
About the Item
A contrasting interplay of patinas gives this antique wooden vitrine a unique charm. Built in France in the 1800s, the distinguished upright form reflects the refinement of Louis Philippe style. The surface of the exterior has weathered to a warm color palette of saffron and apricot; the unique metal windows of the upper cabinet give a view onto a cool interior patina of pastel blue and slate grey. Cast iron cup handles adorn the lower drawers — their graceful, subtly contoured shape perfectly epitomizes the restrained yet elegant character of this attractive period piece.
