19th Century French Wooden Patinated Vitrine
About the Item
The tall, slender silhouette and dramatic patina of this wooden vitrine make it a covetable antique find. Built in France in the 1800s, windows on three sides of the narrow cabinet give a view onto four glass shelves, while a paneled cupboard below provides thoughtful storage space. The once-painted surface of the exterior has weathered over the centuries to a distinctive distressed finish, ranging in color from dark umber to warm auburn, with notes of white and natural wood. The interior of the cabinet has worn to a contrasting patina of robin’s egg blue, cream and charcoal, creating an enchanting backdrop for the precious objects placed within.
