About the Item

Charming vitrine in carved wood in the Japanese style: it is topped with a bronze dragon, and decorated with a woman in a bone and mother-of-pearl kimono, on the bottom of the highest shelf. Good general condition: patina of time, small losses and wear, small lifting of the veneer This vitrine is attributed to the French artist Gabriel Viardot (1830-1904): Parisian cabinetmaker, he specialized in the creation of furniture inspired by the Japanese / Chinese taste, which he discovered at the 1967 Exposition Universelle. He imported decorative panels in lacquer or relief from Asia, decorated with mother-of-pearl for example, and assembled them in his furniture to which he added bronze ornamentation.
