About the Item

This Fine Gilded Figural Walnut Ebonized Vitrine in the manner of Charles-Honoré Lannuier is an exceptional example of early 19th-century inspired Neoclassical craftsmanship. The vitrine features a rich walnut case with ebonized accents, beautifully contrasted by finely detailed gilded figural mounts that highlight the cabinet’s architectural form. The glazed upper door showcases elegant geometric mullions centered with a lavish gilt neoclassical motif, while the lower door is adorned with a walnut panel inset with a gilded classical medallion, framed in intricate gilt borders. Standing on carved paw feet, this vitrine exudes refined elegance and sophistication. The craftsmanship and decorative details reflect the influence of Charles-Honoré Lannuier (1779–1819), one of America’s most important French-trained cabinetmakers known for bringing Parisian Empire style to New York. His influence is seen here in the bold use of gilt bronze ornamentation, figural caryatid mounts, and refined Neoclassical symmetry. Perfect for collectors and designers, this cabinet makes a statement in both historic and modern interiors. Ideal search terms include Empire style vitrines, Lannuier furniture, gilded walnut display cabinets, ebonized neoclassical vitrine, and 19th-century French American cabinetry. A museum-quality piece, it elevates any interior with timeless elegance and rarity.
