French 19th/20th C. Louis XV Style Ormolu Mounted Vernis Martin Style Vitrine
About the Item
A very fine French 19th century Louis XV style Ormolu Mounted Kingwood, Satinwood and Vernis Martin Decorated Single-Door Vitrine, in the manner of François Linke (1855-1946). The white marble top structure centered with an allegorical gilt-bronze plaque depicting cherubs with playing musical instruments while hovering amongst the clouds, flanked by corner floral mounts and sunburst medallions, raised of four cabriolet legs with paw feet, the central door fitted with finely chased gilt-bronze mounts of floral wreaths, ribbons and finial, centered with an oval painting depicting a courting scene with a seated couple in the manner of François Boucher (French, 1703-1770), with two interior glass shelves. Unsigned and unmarked. Circa: Paris, 1890-1900.
