French Louis XVI Style Ormolu Mounted & Tulipwood Vitrine Cabinet

A Very Fine French 19th-20th Century Louis XVI Style Mahogany, Tulipwood and Ormolu-Mounted Parquetry Three-Door Vitrine Commode 'Meuble d'appui with a Brêche Violette Marble Top, attributed to François Linke (1855-1946). The interior of the vitrine with three glass shelves, lined with a burgundy broque fabric and a mirror backing, flanked by a pair of side doors, each fitted with a pair of mahogany shelves. Stamped FL twice on the carcass. The lock-plate stamped "C. Keller 22 R. Des Taillandiers". One key. Circa: Paris, 1900. Measures: Height 46 3/4 inches (118.8 cm) Width 52 7/8 inches (134 cm) Depth 16 5/8 inches (42.2 cm) François Linke (1855-1946): Considered the finest French cabinet maker of the late 19th and early 20th century. By 1875, Linke who was born in Pankraz Bohemia, had arrived in Paris and established an independent workshop. His early works were mainly copies of important eighteenth century models. Linke received major attention at the Paris Exposition Universelle when he presented his totally new style, of Rococo with the addition of the new ‘Art Nouveau’ fluidity. He was awarded the Gold Medal for his extraordinary Grand Bureau. Linke also exhibited at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, Liege in Belgium, and the Franco-British exhibition in London in 1908. His work has long been admired for its exceptional quality and innovative interpretation of the Louis XV and Art Nouveau styles.     Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. A beautiful cabinet. Overall condition is good. Some very minor nicks and wear on the marble edge and parquetry veneer. One key. Three glass shelves. The side doors open to two adjustable wooden shelves on each side. The glass shelves with some wear.

A superb quality palatial French Louis XVI style ormolu mounted, satinwood, kingwood parquetry and Vernis Martin style paneling three-door raised Vitrine Display Cabinet attributed to Paul Sormani (1817-1877). A Vernis Martin Panel signed "V. Gossen." The lower part of the cabinet with three frieze drawers supported by two square-sectioned on tapered legs, fronting an ormolu mounted parquetry back panel, on toupie feet.
