Mid-Century Modern Scandinavian Style China Display Cabinet, White Case and Teak
About the Item
Awesome china or display cabinet in a Mid-Century Modern and/or Scandinavian Modern style with a creamy white painted case on a plinth base and teak and glass doors. This piece is in fabulous condition. Its white painted finish has been freshened with new coats of paint and the teak has been restored. Please see photos, circa mid-20th century.
Eeeeeee! We totally fell in love with this display / china cabinet! It is so “today’s fashion” and vintage at the same time with its original painted finish on its cabinet box paired with the beautiful teak wood veneer of its doors. This rectangular box of a cabinet is lifted from the floor by a recessed tall plinth base with both the box and plinth painted the yummiest creamy white, as well as the inside and shelves. The upper doors are glass framed with teak. Not in the regular way with the frame going all the way around the glass; but framed just vertically on its sides. So interesting and unusual. The lower two doors are solid and square with the teak grain running vertically. There is no adornment at all apart from a single modern skeleton key which moves from upper keyhole to lower keyhole to open doors. We have searched high and low for a maker’s mark on the piece plus searched online to no avail. We believe it could be attributed to Bartels of Germany but cannot be sure. We are sure it is incredible. And gorgeous. And useful. And must me yours!!
