18th C. German Carved Oak Armoire

About the Item

A large and authentic German Armoire in all original condition. A dark stained oak armoire made in three sections and inscribed for the owner and dated to 1731 on a band above the doors. The tiered cornice over a top with small carved doors, the center one opens to sheives, with keys. The lower case with pair of taller doors opening to three shelves. All doors deeply carved with carved supports and inlaid star motifs. The carved scalloped base with shaped feet in front. Working metal mounts. Lacking a key. W. 77", Depth top 24", H. 85" Condition: There are age-related stains on the left side, stable age crack in the top, open joinery on tops of the tall doors, expected worn finishes, all mentioned for accuracy as the presentation is both dramatic and authentic.
