Large Antique Biedermeier Wardrobe Bavaria walnut around 1820 Dimensions: H x W x D: 210 x 141 x 62 cm Description: Large antique wardrobe or hall cupboard from the Biedermeier period around 1820. Piece of furniture standing on curved, flared feet with risalit-like protruding outer plinth sections and solid pillars on top. Discreetly applied ebonisation and the key plates made of embossed brass provide accents. The silky, iridescent and fluted walnut veneer is laid neatly and symmetrically. We use the term "fluted" to refer to the diagonal striped cross pattern that you can recognise on the front and sides of the furniture. This type of cross-bracing is very rare and is created when the wood does not grow straight but in a wavy pattern in the trunk. The builder of this piece of furniture around 200 years ago was either very lucky or well connected to find this unusual veneer. The entire interior was coloured blue when it was purchased. This colour was refreshed during the restoration and removed from the inside of the doors. The wardrobe is fitted with four shelves of around 48 cm depth. A clothes rail can be retrofitted at the customer's request. The wardrobe can be completely dismantled for transport: 1) Base 2) Two doors 3) Two side panels 4) Head 5) Three back panels 6) Four shelves Condition: Ready to live in condition. Shellac polish.
