Stunning wrinkled steel cabinet with mirror-polished plating and interior shelving by Omaha-based designer Christopher Prinz. Prinz achieves this unusual texture by repeatedly creasing thin sheets of steel, resulting in strong, rigid, and unique forms. Hidden leveling feet protect surfaces and ensure balance.
1 is currently produced and available for purchase. New editions are made to order in 12-14 weeks. New editions in the raw finishes are priced at $56,000 and editions in the polished finishes are priced at $59,000.
CHRISTOPHER PRINZ is an Omaha-based designer seeking to expose extreme and rarely-visible possibilities of materials associated with manufacturing. His works are shaped using a repetitive, large-scale steel creasing technique, and finished with different combinations of electro-plated metals. Through this process, the material becomes terrain-like, bringing an expressiveness to these otherwise fairly mute industrial materials.
Prinz received a BFA in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2014.
