Large Qing Dynasty 19th Century Red Lacquer Armoire with Gilt Décor

About the Item

A Chinese Qing Dynasty period large armoire from the 19th century with red lacquer, gilt décor, two doors and front apron. Created in China during the Qing Dynasty period in the 19th century, this large armoire features a linear silhouette perfectly complimented by a red lacquer accented by a gilt hand painted décor. The piece showcases a rectangular top overhanging a stunning façade. Chinese figures attending to their business are walking in landscapes or standing under pagodas while children are playing with flags or kites. Two doors, fitted with ornate pulls on rectangular backplates open thanks to a teardrop key to reveal a black lacquered interior presenting shelves and a removable low compartment. The sides are made of recessed panel with black ground and gilt hand painted motifs. The ensemble is raised on four straight legs with carved apron on three sides. With its clean lines and red and gold décor, this Chinese Qing Dynasty armoire from the 19th century will make for a great statement in any home, particularly placed in a bedroom or living room.
