About the Item

Neo-classicist furniture ensemble for personal office space. The set formed part of a bishop's heritage, who had left it to the Hungarian Church. The monumental bookcase is decorated with wooden inlay depicting scenes of ancient ink drawings. The doors feature classical scenes on bonze reliefs, whilest the head tympanum is the exact depiction of the sculptural programme of the Hungarian Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. The scene reimagines the sculptures visible on the Western facade of the Zeus temple at Mount Olympus - the figure of Apollon midst the fight between lapiths and centaurs. The monumental bookcase is supplemented with writing desk, an armchair and a circular table, with the following dimensions (h/w/d): Writing desk: 88 x 199 x 80 cm Armchair: 130 x 68 x 66 cm Round Table: 91 x 80 cm.
