Antique Renaissance Revival Bronze w. Alabaster Shades Pendant Light /Chandelier
Located in Lisse, NL
Rare bronze chandelier with as many as eight arms with stunning alabaster shades.
The time and effort that was put into making impressive and top quality lamps in the beginning of the 20th century is amazing. This rare and all handcrafted chandelier is a great example of such an amazing work of lighting art from that era. The beautifully crafted figural body of this chandelier, all the arms and all the 'cups' holding the sockets and shades are made of cast bronze in relief. Just look at the soldier, the businessman drinking his beer, the beautiful female and all the impressive and rich scrolling details around them. Before the body with all these figures could have been cast in liquid bronze, all these figures first would have had to been hand-sculpted into another material (often wood). From that other material molds would have to be made first and those molds would have then been filled with liquid bronze. After the bronze was cooled and set, the cast would have been removed from the mold, polished and patinated. This would have to be done for all the arms and 'socket holders' as well and finally all the parts would have to be drilled and put together with nuts and bolts. I won't go into the process of how the perfectly shaped alabaster shades and all the antique sockets...

Hand Embroidered Copper & Silk Thread, Bread of Life / Christ Church Relic
Located in Lisse, NL
For the collectors of stunning and unique, handcrafted religious art.
If you truly understand how much time and what skilled effort went into creating this piece and if you recognize the incredible details in this hand-embroidered 'cloth' then you will also recognize its value. Together with many other unique and top quality works of religious art this piece too was part of a collection of immense rarity and beauty. This piece is one of many unique items that were collected over a period of decades. Mind you, each hair and each line of shade that you see on the face of Jesus and his disciple is hand-embroidered. It is most likely that this extremely time consuming and rare quality piece was made by a highly skilled nun, in early 20th century Europe. We think either in Holland, Belgium or France. The cloth on the back was obviously put there to prevent the original back from fraying, thus protecting this church...

About Bassano del Grappa
Bassano del Grappa is known for the three great traditions that have made it famous: ceramics, whose productions, linked to the prestigious Antonibon family, are admirable in the Museum of ceramics at Palazzo Sturm; the typography developed between 1600 and 1800 by the Remondini family, an illustrious family of publishers and engravers of the most important Italian printing industry and the cabinet makers who produced furniture for the nearby Venice from the 16th century.
The architectural context of Bassano del Grappa is a dive into art: the streets of the center are adorned by the works of authors such as Palladio, Canova, Jacopo Da Ponte...
