About the Item
A very stylish mid-century Italian drop-leaf bar cart, or drinks trolley, beautifully decorated with fine quality floral marquetry in a variety of lovely wood. Featuring two tiers, the lower one fitted with three useful bottle holders, the cart is mounted on two large spoke wheels at the front and swivel casters at the rear. The circular top tray is encircled by a raised pierced gilt metal gallery and features two demi-lune drop-leaf extensions which add lots of useful workspace when required. The handles are of finely chiselled gilt bronze in an attractive scroll design, which match the four patinated gilt-brass turned baluster-form supports. The cart dates from around the 1950s, and would be a practical and chic accessory at any drinks party.
