Mid-Century French Bagues Style Two-Tier Brass Bar Cart on Wheels
About the Item
This elegant, vintage rolling bar cart was created in France, circa 1950 and attributed to Maison Bagues. The rectangular dessert table stands on large back spoked wheels, and two smaller front caster wheels for easy mobility, all with rubber tires. The table features a brass frame with intricate detailing, including a raised pierced edge around the top tray to prevent items from falling off. It has two rectangular shelf plateaus topped with glass surfaces. Both shelves are connected by X crossed brass frame connecting the sides together. The top deck dressed with clear glass features a convenient utilitarian handle to easily move the cart around and it is decorated with a brass pierced gallery rim. The bottom plateau also features a decorative pierced gallery around the original glass, and is further embellished with a liquor bottle compartments. The classic Art Deco table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich patinated gilt finish. The cart table is practical and convenient, and could be used to hold bottles and glasses, or to serve cheese, dessert or tea during or after a meal.
Since 1860, the Maison Baguès has been located in the center of Paris and specializes in the creation of luxury furniture and lighting. Early on, it became the emblem of French Savoir-Faire in wrought iron work and brass, along with French craftsmanship, which is highly valued internationally.
