About the Item

Rare Mid-Century rolling bar cart in the style of acclaimed French designer Mathieu Matégot. Designed in the 1950s, this elegant and functional piece features a clear inset glass top, a woven rattan lower shelf, and a dedicated bottle storage section (holds five bottles), all set within a slender, minimalist black lacquered metal frame. The use of mixed materials—glass, metal, and natural fiber—speaks to Matégot and his contemporaries unique design language, which emphasized both lightness and utility. The woven rattan shelf adds warmth and texture, while the inset glass top maintains visual clarity and openness. In original vintage condition, with appropriate wear consistent with age and use, including patina to the frame and a small fracture in the glass top that does not affect stability.
