About the Item

UPW Serving Trolley Designed by Ulrich P. Wieser, Switzerland in 1961 "Sturdily Rolled" A serving cart with railing: plates, cups, and bowls are given the necessary support. The heat-resistant surface withstands pots and pans. A sliding cover above the bottle compartment provides additional surface area. Necessary small items disappear into the drawer. The wheels roll securely over thresholds and carpets. For years, the designer's wife (an architecture journalist and passionate cook) searched in vain through all furniture collections for a serving cart that met her requirements. It should provide sufficient surface area without looking bulky. It should withstand hot pots or baking dishes without damage. Some bottles should stand securely, but it shouldn't be a bar cart. At the top of the wish list was a fully extendable drawer for various essential items such as bottle openers, corkscrews, matches, and chafing dish candles, serving utensils, and spare napkins. The result of all design work is a "mobile sideboard." For the harmonious design, Ulrich P. Wieser relied on the dimensions of his UPW shelving system, which have proven themselves in recent years. A pleasing practical side effect: the second bottom, necessary for stability, is an additional surface area that can be used for desserts or a second set of plates and bowls. Finally, for the edges, UPW was inspired by the edge of an old Harley Davidson (his boyhood dream). Bottle compartment with sliding cover made of polished and nickel-plated brass. The bottles stand securely, visible and within reach. When the bottle container is empty and the cover is closed, the entire surface area can be used. The rimless bottom board of the bottle compartment is easy to clean. All utensils are laid out clearly and within reach in the fully extending drawer. The UPW handle is made of polished and nickel-plated brass. The railing and handle are made from a single piece. Nickel-plated brass was also used here because it has a significantly warmer color tone than chrome. New production of the mid-century modern classic Dimensions: Height: 72 cm Width: 97 cm Depth: 41 cm Material: Birch wood, stained black Handle made of polished and nickel-plated brass Top made of heat-resistant steel In addition to the elegant, black version, there are three other color variants to choose from. In the black version, the open-pore lacquered drawer has an opaque satin finish in the respective color. The color is repeated on the wheel hub.
