This is a stunning table great as a game table or small dining table most likely designed and made by Maitland Smith. Smith's style is reflected in the use of tessellated natural materials. The table top features tessellated stone surrounded by angel wing abalone. The abalone continues down the quarter circle legs which are intersected by alternating brass sections.
Maitland Smith is know for it artisan techniques in the execution of their designs. The use of the highly figured Abalone in the angel wing pattern along with the pale green stone top and the inclusion of brass details makes this an outstanding of the artistry Maitland Smith furniture is known for and what makes it so collectable today. This design would be at home in both a modern interior as well as a more transitional and even traditional interior.
