17th Century Italian Walnut Fratino Table With Lyre Legs

About the Item

Center table / fratino table / console table hand-made in Italy in the late 1600s using walnut. The table has absolutely gorgeous patina and it is most definitely one of kind. The legs are lyre shaped, with swan heads carved at the top. The vertical and horizontal stretchers of the legs are also decorated with caved spirals. The apron sits on the swan heads and holds two large boards nailed dovetailed into the stretcher. All joints are either dovetailed or held through wooden pegs. Overall this is a very old piece that has held the passing of time extremely well. Some wear is present on the edges of the top, however it has happened organically over the year and it is just part of the personality of the piece. This table would look great as an entry table, consolle table or even writing desk. Wherever it is placed it will add charm and character, as well as a significant splash of history.
