About the Item
Hello,
This elegant Biedermeier cherry table was made in Vienna circa 1830.
Viennese Biedermeier pieces are distinguished by their sophisticated proportions, rare and refined design, excellent craftsmanship and continue to have a great influence on modern design.
The table pedestal is held by three beautifully shaped legs that rest on a triangular base with ebonized feet. Such a table base is one of several most recognizable designs for early fine Viennese Biedermeier center tables.
The piece is beautifully veneered in cherry wood. The table is finished with a hand-applied french polish finish. It is the only appropriate finish for such a fine table which highlights the beauty of the veneer.
The table top has a lovely cherry book-matched veneer with star pattern
accentuated by a deep amber tone of french polish finish and 200 years old patina.
The construction of the table is very solid and steady.
The piece is in very good condition.
