19th Century Irish Specimen Marble-Top Rosewood Center Table or Chess Table

About the Item

This extraordinary octagonal center table has a specimen marble chess table-top with Pietra Dura semi-precious stones. The late Regency specimen marble is inset into a rosewood frame with egg and dart molding setting on acanthus carved columnar terminating in four cabriole legs with rosettes. The chess board is made of 48 different semi-precious stones surrounded by 101 “pietre dure” semi-precious stones all framed in marble.
