About the Item

A beautifully proportioned and finely detailed round pedestal table from the School of Nancy, crafted in burr walnut and rosewood with an inlaid marquetry motif of three moths to the centre. Signed by the maker, this piece exemplifies the Art Nouveau sensitivity to natural forms and expert craftsmanship. The top features a striking geometric veneer of rosewood segments converging at the centre, where the delicate moths are rendered in marquetry with rich tonal contrasts. The tapering pedestal rises from an octagonal, tiered base of burr walnut, lending the piece a strong architectural presence balanced with organic detail. Elegant, decorative, and practical, this table is ideal as a centre or occasional table and an outstanding example of early 20th-century French decorative arts.
