Antique French Country Louis XV Style Carved Walnut Center Table
About the Item
A large and exceptionally carved 19th century country French table with beautifully aged heavily worn warm rich dark patina.
Hand-crafted in France, circa 1820, carved solid walnut, in elegant Louis XV taste, having a shaped top with molded serpentine edge, atop a scalloped apron with intricate foliate relief carvings, rising on elegantly curved cabriole legs, ending in carved whorl feet. The top with scratches, mars, and age related separation that does not detract from the aesthetics or functionality but only adds to the overall authenticity, antique character and charm!
Dimensions: (approx)
28" High, 54" Long, 34.25" Wide;
Minimal clearance: (bottom of apron to floor) 20.75"
Please note: With typical chairs, the tables clearance makes it difficult to use seated on a chair, so it is not ideal for use as a dining table, kitchen table or writing table.
Very good original antique condition, especially considering its around 200 years old. Perfectly imperfect, a wonderful example of wabi-sabi, finding beauty in the flaws and imperfections, the table presents very well, retaining original antique character marks and rustic charm throughout, including scattered scratches, mars, and a large age related separation split to the top boards. All wear commensurate with age and indicative of use. Strong, sturdy, stable, structurally sound. Delivered cleaned, waxed, with hand rubbed polished French patina finish, ready for immediate use!
