About the Item
A lovely antique French Louis XVI style mahogany centre table.
Hand-crafted in France in the late 19th / early 20th century, exceptionally executed in sophisticated 18th century King Louis Sixteenth taste, topped with a striking Breche d’Alep marble top, over rectangular solid mahogany frame, the apron accented with hand-carved giltwood rosettes and gilt metal beaded trim, rising on fluted and tapered legs, with gilded metal mounts, joined by X-form cross-stretcher mounted with a sculptural gilt bronze finial, ending on blunt arrow feet.
As warm and attractive as it is useful, having the ideal size and proportions for a variety of different uses, including as a chair side table, sofa table, hall console, occasional table, buffet server, parlor lamp stand, wine tasting table, or library table, or placed in the foyer as a stunning entry piece!

Great original antique condition with beautifully aged warm dark patina. Strong, sturdy, stable and structurally sound. Retaining original antique character and charm throughout, including evidence of old restoration to marble top. Wear consistent with age and use.
