About the Item
Cabana is a series that explores the limits imposed by the union of the rattan and its malleability with the stiffness of the wood, in order to create pieces in distortion and movement. The wooden frames propose a break with the four-legged table stereotype, drawing irregular paths, which when paved create unique surfaces revealed only when each piece is finished. The series prioritizes formal and constructive investigation, and sometimes goes beyond the functional commitment of the object, resulting in sculptures that materialize the initial research. Each piece is numbered and made using artisanal processes essential for experimentation.
Andre Grippi
André Grippi is a São Paulo based designer, that believes in design as a tool for building and expressing narratives and memories. His trajectory acting in dance is reflected in a process that seeks to incorporate movement to the concretion of his pieces. He debuted his first authorial collection in the Art and Design Market - 2019, in São Paulo, and launches in SP - Arte 2024 the Cabana collection, highlighting the identity search of his work, through a constant investigation of the form and its transposition into matter.
